The hand-held rock drill was introduced by Ingersoll-RandCo. in 1912. According to the power form, it is divided into four categories: pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and internal combustion drive. Pneumatics are the most widely used. Hand-held rock drills are suitable for drilling downward or inclined blastholes, large secondary crushing blastholes, bolt holes (shallow vertical holes), and fixed pulley holes (shallow horizontal holes) in medium-hard and above-medium-hard ore. The drill diameter is 19~42mm, and the maximum hole depth is 5m, generally less than 2.5m. Commonly used pneumatic hand-held rock drills have an impact energy of 15~45J, an impact frequency of 27~36Hz, a drill torque of 8~13N·m, a working pressure of 0.5~0.7MPa, an air consumption of 1500~3900L/min, and a weight of 7~30kg.
